It depends on the content of the reviews. If a problem that was important to my needs seemed to come up in a lot of the bad reviews then I definately wouldn't buy it.
If it was something that I wasn't concerned about and it had the good points I wanted then I may buy it anyway. For example the sound on a tablet I bought was complained about as not being loud without speakers but because I prefer to always attach speakers to all my tablets it didn't bother me and was excellent in all other areas. I bought it and I am still using it happily 2 years later.
The fact that it was a bargain at only £40 was more important and so I was very happy to purchase it despite the bad reviews about something that didn't bother me. Having said that, I did look around for similar products at a similar price that didn't have the problem first but I didn't find any that compared which led me to make my choice to purchase.
So in summary, no it wouldn't necessarily put me off. The product was the Amazon fire tablet for anyone who wants to know.
